It is one of the oldest universities in Europe and one of the first examples of a planned university city at the service of an educational community. Alcal\u00e1 de Henares has a spectacular heritage of monuments: palaces, mansions, gardens, convents, chapels, colleges and halls of residence form the skyline of the city, with the Universidad de Alcal\u00e1 in the centre of the city.<\/p>\n<p>Culture, therefore, is the word that best defines Alcal\u00e1 de Henares.
